Design
This one of a kind product was created by Villkat Arts exclusively for Northern Fire.
The symbol of the triskele can be found in the northern isles around 5000 years ago, when it was most notably carved into Newgrange stones of Ireland. But it most definitely was not confined to this time period. It now exists as an identifying motif for the Celtic and British Isles as well as across the globe.
Many believe the three lobes represent the dimensions of life; youth, adulthood, and old age...or perhaps the land, sky, and sea. There are hundreds of ancient forms of wisdom tied to the symbol of three, unfolding and refolding upon itself in spirals.
The only thing that can be certain is that it inspires reflection upon our place in time and the spiritual realm.
Material & Make
While this tambourine is technically a playable instrument, it likely would be happiest to be used gently and only every so often, perhaps in calm and sparse rituals or ceremonies.
Ash has painted the swirling motifs in acrylic overtop of the skin. The tambourine itself is made of wood and rawhide but it is now a piece of art to be used gently and cherished.
