Hand Carved Wooden Valknut
Sorry, currently out of stock
Design
This wooden Valknut plaque was hand carved by Stuart Cameron in Scotland.
The Valknut itself is a geometric symbol seen on several rune and picture stones from the Viking Age, and was also carved into wooden artefacts and likely other mediums that have failed to survive the ages. Its original meaning and true name is lost to us; the word ‘valknut’ is a Victorian construction. From theories that it depicts a giant's heart to the nine realms of the Nordic mythological universe, the only certainty surrounding this symbol is its inability to be interpreted.
Material & Make
This piece was hand carved with traditional methods and blades, through no use of modern machinery.
