Binding Of Loki | Organic T-Shirt

Design

The piece depicts the mischievous Loki’s punishment for killing the god Baldr. For his crime, the gods tied him to a stone. A snake was placed above him to drip its venom onto the mischievous god for the rest of time, ensuring his perpetual suffering. His wife holds a bowl above his head to catch the venom and spare her husband from a portion of the torment, but whenever she must empty the bowl the poison reaches Loki and he shrieks in pain.

The specific design is based on a stone carving which can be visited in Kirkby Parish Church, local to Villkat Arts and his home. This inspired his design, which depicts this episode within Nordic mythology in a very specific style, with Loki's horns.

The design by Villkat Arts has been hand printed in the Northern Fire studio.

Material & Make

Our t-shirts are made with ethically sourced 100% organic cotton and are hand printed in house by Northern Fire artists at our workshop in Wales. Our inks are water based and locally sourced and to minimise the negative impact of the textile industry on the environment.

About The Artist
