Mammen Style Viking Motif | Hand Printed Fine Art
Sorry, currently out of stock
Design
This design by Paula Cruz Art is created in the Mammen style of Viking Age art and is stamped in wax with her personal seal.
The art style takes its name from an axe found in a male grave from Mammen, in Central Jutland, Denmark. The axe is decorated with spiraling figures and includes a mask-like face and a bird with a large lappet and tendrils. Another mask from this style is seen on a famous stone from Aarhus, which is now housed in the Moesgaard Museum in Denmark and acts as their logo. There are also several caskets that are well-known from this period, including the Cammin casket, which were carved in impeccable detail from ivory and ornamented with precious metals and crystal.
Material & Make
The artwork you will receive was printed by the artist using high quality inks and paper to maintain integrity and quality of colour and image.
Your print will arrive on 250gsm uncoated card and should be handled with care. It’s preferable to only touch the edges and we recommend mounting these in a frame behind glass.
Each print is hand finished with the artists personal wax seal.
